The result is a wonderful fusion of past and present as brick polished modern surfaces wood and glass come together in a graceful fashion.
Midcentury décor pieces are combined with modern furniture and accessories to bring together the best of both worlds even as large glass walls ensure that the outdoor deck and garden become a visual extension of the living area.
Add to this the distinct presence of wide cedar board siding that is literally ‘stapled on’ using custom stainless steel clips and you have a home that does everything it can to ensure that the open living area is detached from the constant hustle and bustle outdoors.
The shape ‘T’ is repeated throughout the house starting from the shade next to the swimming pool (caused by the home) to the aerial view of the residence itself. But the real showstopper here is the way in which polished cement morphs into everything ranging from an alfresco dining table kitchen islands and dining room benches to relaxing daybeds and even a fabulous full-sized bed in the master suite.
Finding the balance between the right style functionality and smart utilization of space is often the biggest challenge when designing a modern home. Add to this the demands placed by unusually heavy snowfall and you need a structure that can withstand the rough weather while creating a relaxing contemporary living environment. N
A long corridor with glass windows connects the indoors with the pool area modest deck and small garden. At one end of the house sits the master bedroom that opens up into its own private garden while the kids’ room on the opposite side has a great view of the pool area. This is a home where the line between the interior and the world outside is clearly defined and yet one sees a seamless interaction between the two.
